Egypt: New Government Promises Elections in 2014 But Muslim Brotherhood Plans More Protest

muslimBrohoodThe new Egyptian President, Adly Mansour installed by the military today announced fresh elections will be held in 2014 and  constitution referendum  is held before the election. The President’s announcement comes in wake of the killing of about 51 supporters of deposed President Mohammed Morsi and his Muslim Brotherhood Party who have clashed with the military for the second straight day protesting the topple of the ousted President. The protesters are demanding Mr. Morsi be re-installed and plans continuous protests until the deposed President is re-installed.

The Egyptian military says  they were force to respond by firing at protesters when  supporters of ousted  President provoke them by attacking them after they were told to disband their protest.   Supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood say it was the military that attacked them while peacefully protesting.

United States and other countries do not considered the deposing of President Morsi by the military as a coupe.
