TND Alert: Ex-President Charles Taylor’s War Crime Conviction Upheld, to Serve 50 Years in British Prison

Former Liberian President Charles Taylor 50 years conviction for war crimes conviction has been upheld  by  a United Nations-backed special court in The Hague.

Ruling on his appeal today, the judge said the original sentence of 50 years passed against Mr Taylor for aiding rebels during the civil war in Sierra Leone was fair and reasonable. Justice George King told  Ex-President Taylor that he had abused the trust put in him.

Mr Taylor will serve his 50 years sentence in a British prison.
