TND Alert: Liberian Gov’t Drops Sedition Charges, Releases All Anti-Gov’t Protesters

Latest reports from Liberia is reporting that the Liberian government has dropped sedition Charges against Mr Mulbah Morlu and ten others who were charged with sedition.
Confirming the release of the anti-government protesters, the Secretary General of the Movement of Liberians Against Corruption, MOLAC, Mr.Sayon Yongwleh in a text to this outlet said ” victory, victory, victory, we have won the victory. Everyone has been released and on  their way to the University of Liberia to hold a pep rally”.
MOLAC is a member of the network of civil groupings in Liberia calling for the resignation of President Sirleaf. MOLAC along with Concerned Liberians Against Corruption and Impunity (CLACI) held a protest against President Sirleaf on the grounds of the United Nations Headquarters in New York on September 24, 2013. The New York protest has since been replicated in Liberia and took shape Wednesday by the arrival of President Sirleaf from abroad when proteters evaded the odds and infiltrated into Liberia’s international airport despite the shouting down of the highway to the airport and protested as they planned, calling for president Sirleaf resignation.

The released protest leaders were arrested and charged with sedition in court when after they were picked up on  the day of the protest and along with others at the airport.
