Liberians living in the United States under the banner of “Liberians in the United States” will stage a demonstration against their President, Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf tomorrow in Washington DC as she meets President Barack Obama.
According to the leader of the demonstration against Jerry Wehtee Wion, says they are demonstrating against the Liberian President for corruption and her failed policies, including human rights violation and complacency as well as insensitivity to the Ebola outbreak which led to the highest death and infection recorded rate by an Ebola infected country.
The release said Liberians will be coming from around the United States to converge on Washington D C as the Liberian leader meets President Obama today, Friday, February 27, 2015 at the White House.
“We are demonstrating against President to let President Obama and the world know that all is not well in Liberia and bring the true picture of what is happening in Liberia so as to acquaint President Obama with reality in the country and not listen some fairy tale account from the President which will paint as things are rosy in the country”, the release from the group said the protest will commence at 10:00 am Eastern time and will held at the Liberian Embassy in Washington D C and will later lead to the White House where the Liberian leader will be meeting President Obama.
President Sirleaf visit with President Obama the will be the first of its kind since the Ebola out in Liberia. United States sent troops to Liberia to help curb the Ebola outbreak.
This will be the second demonstration in less than year against the Liberian leader in the United States….. last September, similar protest was held at the United Nations when President Sirleaf at the United Nations in New York.
