TND Alert: Last Liberian Ebola Patient Discharged, Will Country be Declared Ebola-Free Soon?

Ebola-SurvivorssThe last Ebola patient in Liberia who was receiving care at the Chinese Emergency Treatment Unit  in Paynesville, few miles outside of the country’s capital, Monrovia,  was discharged today.

A milestone ceremony was held to mark Miss Beatrice Doe’s recovery and the last known case of Ebola in Liberia.

Liberia was hardest hit by the Ebola outbreak with over ten thousand case and hundreds of deaths when the virus ravaged two other West African countries- Liberia’s neighbors to the north and west, Sierra Leon and Guinea respectively.

The encouraging news of the last Ebola patient been discharged in Liberia raises the anxiety of Liberians and the country as when the Who Health Organization and other international health institutions will declare the country free of Ebola and bring their country back to normalcy and take off burden of Ebola stigma a typical Liberian faces implicitly or explicitly.
