Texas Senator Ted Cruz has pulled off a crushing upset against billionaire Donald Trump who until recently was untouchable for the nomination of the Republican Party as he dominated the campaign and media space not given much space to his opponent.
With 99% of precincts reporting, the Texas Senator wins the Iowa Caucuses over billionaire Donald Trump by 5,100 votes with Marco Rubio coming distant third place.
On the Democratic front, Hillary Clinton who was believed to be the anointed nominee of the party, is locked a dead-heat tie with Senator Bernie Sanders.
Out of the 95% reporting of precincts, the former First Lady who wants to make history to occupy the White House again but this time as the President of United States has a minute edge 49.8% while Senator Bernie Sanders holds 49.6% second place and Governor Martin O’Mally coming a distant last.
On the other hand, Governors Martin O’Mally of the Democratic Party and Mark Huckubee of the Republican Party dropped out of the race last night after the Iowa Caucuses.
