Mr. James Marshall

Philadelphia- The office of the First Lady belongs to a natural born or naturalized Liberian woman which can be seen as a platform for Liberian women empowerment. The office of the Liberian First Lady must be occupied by a typical Liberian woman who has the full g understanding of the issues that affect Liberian women and cultural Morales of the country which then equip the First Lady to relate to the women of Liberia because she is one of them because she too has the DNA of a Liberian woman’s identity.
Mrs Clar Weah, wife of Senator George Weah who could become Liberia’s First Lady if her husband wins, is not a Liberian citizen but a Jamaican-American woman who though has been married to Senator Weah, the football icon for two decades now, is yet to meet the conditions to acquire Liberian naturalization which requires her to live in Liberia for five consecutive years and remains in the country until her application for naturalization and process are approved after submitting her renunciation of her Jamaican and United States by evidence of furnishing the Liberian Bureau of immigration with her renunciation certificates from the those countries.
Mrs. Clar Weah
Unfortunately, Mrs Weah barely lives in Liberia for six months for the two decades she has been married to the Liberian football icon but spends most of her time in the United States and her native country of Jamaica but visits Liberia once in a while like a tourist to the country though her husband lives in the country and Senator in the Liberian Senate.
Without being a citizen, Mrs. Weah is hoping to be the head of it.
Mrs Weah has been married to Senator Weah for well over 20 years and under the Liberian constitution, anyone who’s a negro decent, is eligible to become a Liberian citizen, but she has made no attempt in getting a Liberian citizenship, if she did, she would no longer enter the United States because should would have renounced her American citizenship under the Liberian law whereas she would no longer be an American by renouncing her U S citizenship
Liberian naturalization process is a tough vetting process to go through. So, since you been knowing Mrs. Weah, how long has she stayed or lived in Liberia to be qualified and become a citizen with a voting right? No, she’s not!
And the law is the law! Folks, Senator Weah’s unwillingness to encourage his American- Jamaican wife to embrace Liberia through its naturalization process couple with her belittlement of the country by seeing it not worthy to renounce her American and Jamaican citizenship for Liberian citizenship should serve as an opprobrium to him becoming President.
I am therefore calling on the women of Liberia and all who believes in the sanctity of the office of the Liberian First Lady being occupied by a Liberian woman and women empowerment and equality, to stand up and vehemently frown and reject the noble office of the Liberian First Lady which must be and has been occupied by a Liberian woman for almost two centuries and naturally preserved for them, that a foreign citizen woman becomes the First Lady of Liberia.
It is incumbent upon all true meaning Liberian woman and every Liberian to reject this new shameful path of marginalizing of our women and girls including the national embarrassment of Africa’s oldest independent Republic having a foreign citizen occupying it First Lady office who will have a triangular allegiance and no loyalty to the country.
I sincerely agree that it is the right of every Liberian citizen to marry whomever he or she wishes but at the same time that decision has consequences which the person making that choice must be prepared to deal with because he or she has given up something and can not enjoy the fullness of what he or she has consciously given up.
Senator George Weah who is an icon, chose a foreign woman as wife despite the many beautiful, educated and intelligent millions of Liberian women while he fathers children with them as his side kicks and in some instances refused to support those kids but have to be forced to do so by being taken to court and the courts demand he supports those children.
Having a foreign First Lady of Liberia is depriving the millions of beautiful, intelligent and good Liberian women of their birth right to the office of the First Lady of Liberia to a foreign citizen woman who can not relate to Liberian woman and shares no cultural values with them or understands the issues affecting the ordinary Liberian woman.
Mrs Weah has refused to acculturate into the Liberian society as she barely lives in the country for three months for the past two decades she has been married to the country’s icon but visit the country as if she is a tourist while spending all her time in the United States and her native home of Jamaica.
Mrs Weah can only relate to American and Jamaican women because these are the places she lives and spends her time and understands the issues affecting women in these of her two countries.
What sort of First Lady that did not vote because she not a Liberian though she some how voted in two elections, 2011 and 2014 and will sit in the Executive Mansion as First Lady of Liberia?
I won’t stop until the beautiful women and girls of Liberia are respected and put first because it behooves true patriotism that anyone desiring to be the president of our country should do so with a born or naturalized Liberian citizen wife who would ultimately becomes the country’s First Lady. for the below reasons:
1.To be able to relate to the typical Liberian women and the issues that affect them
2. The cultural norms of the country concerning women
3. The cultural identity of the Liberian society.
As for me, I pledge never to depreciate or devalue Liberian women over any foreign woman but will always protect and defend their place in society and whatever is theirs, including the office of the “First Lady” that is part of their empowerment which common sense and true patriotism demand.
So any attempt to deprive them of what’s theirs, will be met with my strongest resistance!
Liberian women voters including those did not vote on October 10th, come out in your numbers and reject a foreign First Lady in the Executive Mansion on November 7th run-off election.
